Woodbridge is a suburb of Washington DC and is part of Prince William County VA. This is a fast growing area because of its easy commute to Washington. It is well known for being the home of the Potomac Mills Mall. At one time this mall was the largest in the United States, it is now only the largest outlet mall, but still, that's big.

Prior to the 1980s Woodbridge was mainly farmland and industrial complexes. The town has seen a large growth in a short period of time and has had its share of growing pains. The growth is still going strong however, with many more luxury housing communities in the planning stages. These communities like Potomac Club, Port Potomac, Rippon Landing, The Villages and Eagles Point are taking Woodbridge away from it's roots as a low cost entry into the Washington home market.

Parks are all over Prince William County and Woodridge has a few of it's own. Located in the town itself are the Hamill Mill Park, the Marumsco National Wildlife Refuge, the Lancaster Park, Marumsco Acre Lake Park and Riverbend Park. Outside the city, but still close are the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Prince William Forest Park and Fountainhead Regional Park.

Other things to do in the area include the Occoquan Mill House Museum, Aqua-Vision and Laser Quest. Actually, you should never lack something to do in this part of Virginia, because it really is all about Prince William County VA recreation. Some of the recreational places in and around Woodbridge include the Julie J. Wetland Bank, Lake Ridge Park and Golf Course, Leesylvania State Park, the Marinas of Neabsco Creek, Old Hickory Golf Club, Prince William Ice Center and the Ospreys at Belmont. Or you could take in a baseball game since Woodbridge is home to the Potomac Nationals.

The Potomac Community Library serves the town with books and there are 6 other libraries located in neighboring towns. Many of these older libraries are historic monuments of days long gone. Those days may be gone but the books and the buildings remain, take some time and enjoy them.

There are a few neighboring towns that should not be passed up in your day trips out of Woodbridge. Dumfries, Occoquan and Manassas should not be missed if you really want a feel for the past, for the wars and the industry that shaped this area. Another place to get a good feel for the past is the National Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. The history lesson this place gives is second to none.

So whether you are a resident or just passing through, take the time to enjoy all that Woodbridge and Prince William County have to offer. It should be an experience you will never forget.
